Canoeing in the Moose River Valley

Maine in general, but particularly our neck of the woods, has ideal canoeing conditions. With thousands of streams, ponds and lakes, as well as amazing scenery and wildlife, Maine offers some of the best canoeing anywhere in the world.

If you're interested in taking up paddle and canoeing, we can help you set up a trip ranging from short 1/2 day to multiday 46 mile trip called the "Moose Bow." We can provide you with the information you'll need, including where to source equipment or rentals, description and maps of various trips and where to find guides willing to lead you in the trip if you desire.

Most canoeing trips are done by canoe enthusiasts, but if you're new to canoeing, you can also enjoy this very relaxing and exciting sport. It's a great way to get back to nature and away from the hectic city life.

Float Plane Tours

Through a local tour company, we can also help arrange a float plane tour of the area. The agenda is pretty much set by you. Whether you're looking for a quick flight or wanting to get into some deep wood areas of Maine that only plane can reach, we can help arrange the tour for you.

If you're planning to fish or hunt while in Maine, you should seriously consider using a float plane in your charter. Some of the best fishing holes and hunting locations in Maine can only be found from the air.

The float plane trips take off out of Big Wood Pond, Jackman's backdoor lake. From here, your pilot and guide will take you wherever your trip has been arranged. We can provide shuttle service from our accommodations to the plane and back.
