The Moxie Falls Day Hiking Trip
Moxie Falls, one of the largest waterfalls in the New England area, stands at over 90 feet (30 meters). This beautiful wooded area contains a network of trails to other nice areas, including a Kennebec river access trail for the truly adventureous.
The Moxie Falls hike is generally offered as a filler activity for those who would like to get in an extra activity for the day. We can give you instructions on how to make this a do-it-yourself adventure, including dropping you off and picking you up again at the hike start point.
If you have young children who are not able to raft the Upper Kennebec Gorge, we can arrange for you to be dropped off at the start of the Moxie Falls hike and then picked up before the Lower Gorge stretch of the Kennebec. This way, everyone can be involved in an activity while the raft trip runs through the Upper Kennebec stretch with the bigger rapids.
Generally, an adult in your party would accompany the younger children on the hike while the remaining adults and teens in your group run the Upper Kennebec rapids. Then, our staff will pick you up for a return to the Kennebec river and a run down the Lower Kennebec Gorge.
